Alan MacDonald
"I started my piping in 1960 under Kenny 'Captain' MacLeod who emigrated to Canada in 1963 .
My next tutor, for three years, was John Rennie, probation officer, who then left for Inverness.
My next mentor was P/M Willie MacLeod,
Seaforth Highlanders, and Pipe Major of the Lewis Pipe Band. Willie took me into the band in 1967 to 1971.
I then left Lewis to find a job and returned in 1979 and became Pipe Major of the Lewis Pipe Band in1980 and survived for 15 years! During that time I tutored many young learners and continued tutoring up to the present time.
In 2001 I was asked to be Pipe Major of the newly formed Eilean nan Fhraoich Pipe Band and had ten very enjoyable years there."
